Gavin in the News!
Sunday, October 28th, 2007Gavin has been making the news! Kim Hoey, freelance writer for the News Journal, wrote a great review entitled, “Georgetown woman writes adventure tale: Kids’ book intended as alternative to ‘Potter.’” The story was posted online before the print edition came out on Sat, Oct. 27. A reporter from WBOC-TV saw it and showed up at a book signing at Delaware Technical & Community College, and the segment was aired that night on the 11:00 news and three times the next day. I thought the announcer’s introduction was the best part:“Coming up . . . a local author will tell us how the Good Book influenced her book.”
Here’s the article: http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007710270301. What do you think the reporter did right? Did it raise any questions? Is there anything you disagree with? If you were the reporter, what questions would you have asked?
My weekly 2-min. radio interviews with Dan Gaffney, WGMD, live every Thursday morning between 8 and 9 AM, 92.7 FM from Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach, are going well. The first time was tough—who would have thought one silly little microphone could throw such fear into me that my mind would go blank?—but Dan is a professional and the audience never knew the difference. This week was my fourth and best so far; it was actually fun. My husband, Drew, and I have a nice routine on Thursdays—out of the house by 7:15, enjoy the early morning happy mix of people at the bookstore, and then off we go to breakfast at IHOP before buckling down to the work day (it’s really wonderful when your “work” is your play).
